Each year Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS recognize the contributions and commitment of individuals and organizations with our Pearl of Hope award. We’re proud to announce for 2024 we are recognizing an individual and an organization. Both recipients have been making a difference in lives of the families we serve for many years.
Dr. Rober Breit, MD, or Dr. Bob as he is known at Sojourner House, has been holding a parenting group at Sojourner House for more than 15 years. A pediatrician by trade, Dr. Bob has been a long-time friend of Sojourner House, having served as a board member and a mentor. His rapport and connection with our mothers make a huge impact on their lives. He helps them build the skills they need to repair relationships with their children and build a brighter future together.
The Murrysville Bible Study are also a long-time supporter of Sojourner House. Twice a month for the last seven years, they support the spiritual recovery of our mothers. At each gathering, they provide a meal and share different books, readings or verses of the Bible to provide an opportunity for fellowship and encourage spiritual healing. They also provide new women with a welcome bag of spiritual books to offer support and encouragement as they begin their journey at Sojourner House.
During the height of the pandemic, when they couldn’t visit our mothers in person, the group got creative to continue showing their support. Each month they provided a treat and a token around a particular theme. For instance, in July they supplied the ladies with ears of corn for a summer picnic theme.
In recognizing the outstanding contributions of Dr. Bob, and the Murrysville Bible Study, Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS celebrate more than just their individual efforts; we honor the power of compassion, dedication, and community support in transforming lives. Dr. Bob’s unwavering commitment to nurturing and empowering mothers through his parenting group exemplifies the profound impact that genuine care and expertise can have on fostering resilience and hope. Similarly, the Murrysville Bible Study’s steadfast presence and innovative outreach efforts during challenging times reflect the boundless generosity and creativity that define true philanthropy. Together, they illuminate the path toward healing, renewal, and a brighter future for the families served by Sojourner House.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to Dr. Bob and the Murrysville Bible Study. Thank you for helping us cultivate a community where families can feel empowered and thrive.
