Transitional Housing Services
Launched in 2018, the Sojourner House MOMS (Motivation Opportunities Mentoring Spirituality) program offers transitional housing and comprehensive support services to families in recovery for up to one year.
Our service philosophy is family-focused. We want to help a family achieve its goals by providing safe and affordable transitional housing, support services, necessary referrals for the family, and an atmosphere of community encouragement.
Individuals eligible for Sojourner House MOMS Transitional Housing Program:
- Must be homeless and referred by a homeless transitional, drug & alcohol residential, or mental health treatment program
- Must have at least 90 days clean
- Able to provide documentation of 90 days of treatment attendance or successful completion of a treatment program
- The head of household may be male or female, with custody of at least one child, and/or be pregnant
- Co-occurring substance use and mental health disorder accepted
- If a parent has a goal of reunification with one or more children, they will be considered

Housing Services
Sojourner House MOMS Transitional Housing Program supports people who are in early recovery from substance use disorder and mental illness, along with their children. During their stay, families receive:
- Safe, affordable housing for up to one year
- Job readiness and educational opportunities
- Assistance in finding housing and other community resources
Children’s Programming
In addition to supportive family counseling aimed at strengthening families and overcoming past traumas, Sojourner House MOMS offers programs to address the specific needs of our child residents.
- All child residents receive a full screening and assessment upon admission.
- School-aged children receive support for uniforms, Individual Education Plans (if needed), and school transportation (if needed).
- Learning Centers, designed and installed by Homeless Children’s Education Fund, provide age-appropriate educational resources for children, youth, and parents. Each center is equipped with computers, educational software, and a lending library and offers after-school activities that provide educational, social, and emotional support.
- Child development programs include an indoor and outdoor play center.
