Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS recently announced the appointment of De’netta Benjamin-Miller as Executive Director. Ms. Benjamin-Miller steps into the role on Oct. 14, 2019. The boards of both Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS recognize Susan Orr, Interim Executive Director and current Director of Development, for her service during the transition.
The hiring of Ms. Benjamin-Miller is a result of a recruitment and hiring effort led by Nonprofit Talent. Ms. Benjamin-Miller most recently served as Familylinks, Director of Behavioral Health. She is a licensed clinical social worker with a Masters of Social Work from University of Pittsburgh and Bachelor of Arts from Central State University.
“De’netta’s clinical experience and passion for trauma-informed care, combined with her demonstrated leadership ability and desire to positively impact the community we live in, made her really stand out as the best leader to continue the mission of Sojourner House. We are so excited to see the impact she will have on the entire Sojourner House community,” said Christie Smith, President of the Board of Directors.
A Homewood resident who grew up in the Lincoln-Larimer neighborhood, Ms. Benjamin-Miller is passionate about the missions of both organizations and familiar with the work the organizations do in the community. Ms. Benjamin-Miller brings over 10 years of management experience and 18 years of experience as a behavioral health clinician. “I look forward to serving the clients and staff of the Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS. This is truly an honor,” said Ms. Benjamin-Miller.
