Our team works to nurture the entire family system, understanding that true progress emerges from the health and well-being of each family member, not just data points. Accordingly, families facing the challenges of homelessness and behavioral health disorders find more than a program at Sojourner House MOMS—they find a safe haven, unwavering support, and a source of hope
The impact of our work shows in the smiles of children who feel secure, the determination of mothers who conquer substance use and mental health challenges, and the decline in recidivism rates among families overcoming homelessness. These outcomes highlight the transformative care we provide and the real-life changes we help families achieve in the East End community.
For example, a mother named Ashley just recently obtained permanent housing for herself and her daughters after spending time at Sojourner House MOMS. For Ashley, the Sojourner House MOMS program helped her gain her footing after completing treatment at Sojourner House. Accordingly, the guardrails of the program helped her stay focused on her recovery.
“You don’t go to treatment for six months and just get it,” she said of her early journey. “Sojourner House MOMS has been such a great help.”

We urge our funding partners and community supporters to see beyond traditional metrics and recognize the full scope of our work. While numeric benchmarks offer insight into our reach, they often fail to convey the depth of resilience and hope our families build. Every person who enters Sojourner House MOMS brings a unique story, and we ensure that each one receives the compassionate care needed to feel valued and achieve self-sufficiency. Above all, we want each family to have the chance to rewrite their story and find a brighter future.
