Our Children
A group of Sojourner House children ranging in ages from 3 to 9 years old were asked to draw their favorite picture. "Stephanie"; a second grade girl, gathered several crayons and a piece of construction paper. She drew an outline of her hand and colored it. She talked aloud as she worked on her picture saying that before she came to Sojourner House with her mother and three year old brother, they lived in a dirty house with bad furniture. She said that she prayed that God would help her family get a nice house and that her mother would stop using drugs. Stephanie said, "It took a long time but it happened. We have a nice apartment." With excited, bright eyes she talked about all the gifts she received this Christmas. She wrote across the top of her picture, "God is real" and on the side, "God loves you". Stephanie said, "This picture is for my mother because she does not use drugs anymore."
