Sojourner House Names New Executive Director, and Board of Directors Officers, Members

Sojourner House recently named Joann Cyganovich, an East McKeesport resident, as its new executive director.

Starting in her new position on July 2, Cyganovich has been an advocate for homeless and underserved populations in the Pittsburgh area for two decades. She has an extensive background in human services administration and program development. She most recently was executive director for Sisters Place, an agency that provides housing and supportive services to single, homeless mothers and their children.

In 2001, she was appointed by Allegheny County's Chief Executive, Jim Roddey, to serve on Allegheny County's Drug and Alcohol Planning Council. In 2004 Ms. Cyganovich served as the committee chairperson. She is currently involved with Allegheny County's Homeless Alliance where she serves on the Advocacy and Continuum of Care committees.

The following board officers and board members were voted into office at the June board meeting, for Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS, a partnership residence program for Sojourner House graduates:

  • Rebecca Colosimo, a Robinson Township resident and new board member, will serve as secretary. She is a conflicts analyst at Reed Smith LLP.
  • Anne Crawford, an O'Hara Township resident, will return to serving on the Sojourner House board. She also is the board president for Sojourner House MOMS. Anne is a Director at Highmark.
  • Kathy Froehle, a Cranberry Township resident, is now board president. She previously was vice-president. Froehle is manager in the Business Information Services Division at Federated.
  • Joanne La Rose, a Shadyside resident, is now chair of the Governance Committee. She was previously President. La Rose is a Senior Counsel at FedEx Ground.
  • Susan Orr, an Aspinwall resident, is now vice-president. She previously was secretary. Orr is director of marketing and communications for Girl Scouts-Trillium Council.
  • T. Renee Randleman, a Hill District resident, is a new board member. She is regional director with the Bureau of Equal Opportunity, Department of Public Welfare.
  • Caritha Scott, who is from Xenia, OH, and is assistant manager of Citizens Bank Offices — East Liberty.*
  • Jessica Strong, a Stanton Heights resident, will serve as treasurer for the second consecutive year. She is senior financial analyst for AHCI.

Based in Pittsburgh, PA, Sojourner House's provides faith-based residential treatment and other services to addicted women and their children to break the intergenerational cycle. A nondenominational faith-based agency, Sojourner House partners with other agencies and community groups to enhance community involvement and program quality.
